Exodus 20:16 “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”

The 9th commandment involves judgement in how we use our mouths. What does judgment have to do with the mouth? With our mouths, we are able to bring false judgments and consequences for those judgments. James says:

“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God” (James 3:5-9).

Families, especially children, should learn how to control their tongues. Children must learn that there is a time to talk and a time to stay silent. How can a man control the rest of his body if he cannot control his tongue to some degree? If families want to take dominion in the Name of King Jesus, they must train their minds and mouths.

When the State attempts to usurp the authority of parents by controlling what parents can teach to their children, it is trying to make laws and consequences for the mouth. By this, the State is attempting to prohibit parents from teaching the proper use of the tongue to their children. We must resist this take-over by the Kingdom of Darkness and begin to be faithful in our duty to train our children in the proper use of the tongue.
