What is the goal of education? To bring glory to God. How do we bring glory to God in the field of education? It starts by remembering that education includes all of life.
The purpose of the bible is to give Christians all they need spiritually, physically, and educationally. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
This is an all-encompassing education for what area of life is Jesus not Lord? Jesus’ dominion certainly extends to the sciences, math, and politics, right? Yes! By beginning with the Word of God, the disciple can correctly gauge all of life!
Now, this doesn’t mean that all the facts pertaining to math, science, and politics are found in Scripture but without Scripture as the starting point the facts of each of these subjects drift along without any meaning and coherence. As we learn and mature in the disciplines God has called us to, using Scripture as our plumb line, we bring glory to God, no matter the vocation.
God is glorified when, as Isaiah writes, “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9). In simple terms, the goal of education for the Cristian is to learn all there is about God and the world that He made, that he may take dominion over it. That’s what we help parents to do at CCA.
