Below is a summary of Christ’s Instructions to Christians on exactly what to do after or during a season of discipline and/or suffering
.
Your trial isn’t as bad as Jesus’ or Job’s. No one is bleeding. So, quit laying around feeling sorry for yourself. Get up. Straighten out those knees. Don’t retreat into your own little world, thinking “nobody knows what this is like.” Heb. 12:3-13
.
Work out all the kinks with your former friends. Strive for peace as best you can. And, get back at pursuing holiness! Heb. 12:14
.
Make sure you have no deep seated negative dispositions toward God or others. Don’t let your desire for vengeance, or your feelings of being hurt to fester. it will only defile others and cause you to miss out on all manner of grace. Heb. 12:15
.
And, don’t turn to sexual perversion. You don’t deserve a break from the striving. Esau lost his entire inheritance for a bowl of stew. Dont be an idiot and sell yourself so short for a fling. Heb. 12:16
.
And, finally go back and read the entirety of Hebrews 11 learning to not only look at those great men. Looking at them will condemn or puff up. Rather look at them until you figure out what they were looking at. In other words, look hard until you see (not them) but what they saw: Him.
